STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar - All New, Delicious and Affordable Menu!

Just a few weeks back, Wills & I were invited to tasting of STREET 50’s all new menu created by Chef Kelvin, a super humble and creative malaysian chef who worked at Sofitel previously. Btw, STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar is located within Bay Hotel Singapore - a pretty sweet boutique hotel in Singapore just across the road from VivoCity. I heard that a stay in the hotel includes free snacks and even beer from your room's mini bar. Sounds alluring!

Here's us slacking around Vivo before dinner~

Btw, I just launched the second collection on my web-store!
(explains the lack of updates here as I've been busy spending the remaining time I left with my bf as well as balancing the shop)
Wearing the Striped pleated Culottes in black and Basic Ribbed Curl Neck Tee top which is easy to pair with any bottoms!

Perfectly timed with Great Singapore Sale from 3 June 2016, Bay Hotel Singapore’s STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar is rolling out Great Singapore Savour with a menu that accentuates favourite local street food from Malaysia to Singapore.

With amazing twists and styles, one of the plus points of this restaurant is their is a wallet-friendly selection of about 20 of their (street-)smart treats priced incredibly from $7.90 to $12.90. It is perfect to share with a group of friends!
You can see from a glance at their drink menu the array of tasty drinks the chefs came up with!

Here are some of the drinks we tried!
Honeyed Pleasure ($6), Iced Lychee Tea ($6) and my favourite Soda Gembira ($6) - a refreshing change of bandung mixed with soda!

First up from the tasting menu, Soft Shell Crab with Salted Egg Dip ($7.90), this was one of William's favourite. Still on the latest craze of salted egg yolk, this dish is a deep-fried delight that is just great when accompanied with the fragrant, golden-hued salted egg cream.

Cereal Prawns with Wasabi Dressing ($9.90)
Deep-fried crispy prawns spiced with cereal and served with wasabi dip. The prawns are lightly battered with mild sweet and savoury flavours, leaving no greasy aftertaste.

And not forgetting my favourite dish, the Salted Egg Lava Chicken Breast ($9.90), is the new Chef Kelvin’s signature rendition of chicken breast encased with his homemade salted yolk paste with cheese. It is a visual treat when you enjoy the sight of salted egg lava trickling down the tender chicken meat too!!
This dish really impressed me as usually chicken cordon bleu that has to be deep fried as such always makes the meat super dry but this wasn't dry at all! In fact the meat was juicy and moist. Tasty!

Coffee Wings ($7.90)
Deep-fried chicken mid joints with chef’s homemade hong kong style coffee jam, is believed to be the first in Singapore and only available at STREET 50. Another top pick on the table as it is a surprisingly finger-licking good dish for even the non-coffee drinkers.

Curry Fish Head ($18.90)
This dish served sizzling in a claypot was prepared by Chef Kelvin’s colleague, an Indian chef. The curry here is more of an Indian-style curry like the kind you get at roti prata stalls rather than a Chinese-style curry. If you like Indian curry, you could give it a try!

Claypot Assam Fish Head ($18.90)
Like the Curry Fish Head, this dish is served in a claypot as well. This is not the typical kind of gravy formed by assam factory-made seasoning. Chef Kelvin made this from fresh tomato puree scratch. The fish is cooked perfectly and the assam gravy makes it extremely addictive.
Both Fish claypots has generous servings that serves up to 6 people which makes the price extremely affordable for dining at a restaurant instead of hawker stalls.

Shrimp and Eggplant Sambal ($8.90)
A zi char delight of brinjals with fresh shrimp stir-fried with spicy prawns.

X.O. Scallop & Prawns Fried Rice ($9.90)

Oyster Char Kway Teow ($12.90)

From the GSS period from now to 14 August 2016,

Dine up to $50 and enjoy complimentary Fresh Coconut Malibu ($8.90)
Fresh young coconut fruit with parisienne of mixed fruits, topped with coconut ice cream and served with fresh coconut juice on the side.
Pretty refreshing and another restaurant which serves coconut ice-cream without having to fly to bangkok!
